Psychological support for adults, in Bergamo, Lecco and online

I work with adults going through periods of anxiety, stress, grief or difficulties in their relationships. The first sessions are for understanding your situation together and defining the most suitable path.

About me

The relationship we build matters a great deal in my work: goals agreed together, a clear method, and the freedom to tell me when something is not working.

I am Dr Lucia Scuzzarella, a psychologist registered with the Order of Psychologists of Lombardy. I work in private practice and have experience in the public sector: at the Family Centre of Alta Valtellina (ASST della Valtellina e dell'Alto Lario) I worked on psychological wellbeing and parenting support, substance-use prevention and the mindful use of digital technology, as well as projects promoting active ageing. This work has brought me into contact with people of very different ages and life stories. I have completed the four years of my specialisation in integrative psychotherapy.

My work is grounded in attachment theory and metacognitive interpersonal therapy: approaches that help us understand how past relationships have shaped the way each of us thinks, feels and relates to others, and how these patterns can change.

Alongside these, I use mindfulness, in which I have trained in the MBSR and MBCT protocols: structured, research-based programmes that teach you to observe thoughts and emotions without being overwhelmed by them. I integrate it as a practical tool for managing anxiety and stress and for preventing depressive relapse.

How I work

My starting point is what psychology calls the therapeutic alliance: the working relationship between client and therapist. Research in psychotherapy shows that the quality of this relationship is among the factors most closely linked to good outcomes, so I take care of it from the very first session.

Shared goals

We decide together what to work on and revisit the goals as things change.

A clear method

I explain what we are doing and why. If something does not convince you, we talk about it.

A relationship of trust

You can tell me when you feel misunderstood or uncomfortable. That is part of the work too.

First contact

Book your first session through the MioDottore calendar or send me a short email. If you wish, we can have a brief call beforehand.

The first three sessions

These are assessment sessions: we explore your situation, clarify the difficulties and agree together on goals and structure. At the end I suggest how to continue; the choice remains yours.

Ongoing work

Sessions last 50 minutes, usually weekly. The length of therapy is not fixed in advance: we review it together as your situation evolves.

Online sessions

On Google Meet or the MioDottore platform: all you need is a smartphone or computer and a quiet place. You receive the link before the appointment.

Direct access

No referral is needed. With your consent, I can work alongside your GP or the psychiatrist who follows you.

Confidentiality

I am bound by professional secrecy under the Italian Code of Ethics for Psychologists and Italian law.

How much does a session cost?

€70 per session. You receive an invoice, which Italian tax residents can claim as a medical expense.
